Guides for living and working in Korea

What the calculators can't tell you: the Korean words on your payslip and lease, and step-by-step checklists for renting with jeonse and for leaving a job — written for foreign residents, with the same 2026 figures as the calculators.

How these guides are made

Figures are not typed in by hand: they come from the same calculation code and rate tables as the calculators, so they change together when a rate changes. Rules that apply specifically to foreign residents are checked against official sources such as the National Pension Service, HiKorea and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, which are linked at the bottom of each guide.

Checklist ticks are saved only in this browser on this device. They are never sent to a server, so they won't appear on another device, and clearing your browser data removes them.

Rules change, and some depend on your visa. Each guide shows the date it was last checked; confirm anything that involves a lot of money with the agency concerned.
